Anchored or Braced Shoring Design Software

COMPLETE DESIGN OF MULTILEVEL ANCHORED OR BRACED SHORING WALLS (SI Units & English Units) – Up to 105 ft (32 m) deep

SoilStructure ABS, is for analyzing and designing multilevel tied back, tie rod, raker or strut shoring wall design. Spreadsheets are hard to preserve and it is time consuming to do all the stability and design checks using in house tools. This anchored or braced shoring wall software gives you pleasure and ease when analyzing temporary retaining structures.  When excavation cuts exceed 17 feet, the required section modulus of the soldier beam becomes increasingly large.  It is therefore more economical to use an anchored or braced soldier beam system instead of Cantilever Shoring Design.

The most popular and most efficient method of designing these anchored or shored walls is the method proposed by Blum and later modified by Tschebotarioff and others. This is known as the equivalent beam method which is a special case of the fixed earth support method & is also very close to the elastic line method.

ABS Software does not use Navfac method, nor FHWA method nor Caltrans method. It uses limit equilibrium method and yields the lightest beam possible that meets stability requirements. Therefore, soils parameters and shoring geometry kept equal, ABS Software yields Approx. 20 pounds lighter beam on a 30 ft cut.  In addition, it gives approx. 20% shallower embedment depth than the methods mentioned above. That is why professional shoring engineers & Design-Build Contractors use ABS Shoring Design Software.

ABS shoring design software can handle up to 8 levels of tiebacks or approximately 105 ft (32 m) deep excavation height. (99% of all design cases).  This shoring design software allows you to pick from a list of 10 Soils or Bedrock listings. Then the loading diagram is chosen based on your pick. This software also allows you to enter the earth pressure loading (user defined) from a Soils report, the tieback support levels, the beam shape (drop down menu), and tieback inclination.  Other software stop here.  However, ABS also allows you to enter vertical loading (axially loaded member check) & Lateral Torsional buckling check (LTB).  Also a check is made for adequacy in Shear, Bending and Deflection.  The charts have vertical orientation, just like the soldier pile and consist of loading, shear, moment, slope and deflection diagrams. You may pick from North American, Australian, British or European Beam & Pipe Sections.

You can also design as an option, a Waler Beam at each of the 8 vertical anchor locations.

In addition, You can design as an option, a corner brace at each of the 8 vertical anchor locations. If you have CLAY soils near the Excavation Bottom, you can do a Basal Heave Analysis. You can also design Guard Rail at each or alternate vertical pile location.

The software will also display Surface Settlement behind the shored excavation (up to a length equal to 2 x Shored Height)

You may use either ENGLISH UNITS or SI UNITS, in which case the beams and their properties are shown. The program uses ASD approach, which is the current state of shoring design practice.

You may design soldier beam, tangent pile, secant pile or sheet pile,
